Daniel + Midian // Romantic Castle Wedding in Italy

First of all, I can't believe I'm actually writing this title for a blog post. Italian castle wedding?! What?! I went to Italy (from England) for literally less than 48 hours with 8 friends from England who were also attending the wedding. I was an abolsute blast and we spent the day before the wedding exploring Milan and eating pizza, tiramisu, and gelato until midnight...the only way to do Italy in my opinion.

I've known Daniel since 2012 while working for the same non-profit in Hawaii. Since then, we've kept in contact and I recently spent 3 months living in England and working with him again. Him and Midian met in 2015 and since then it's been history! Daniel is English-Egyptian and Midian is Brazilian but spent the last few years of her life in Milan. So what a multi-cultural celebration! The whole wedding was translated from English into Portuguese, as well as many of the venue workers only speaking Italian. There were guests from over 7 nations attending! It was a wild day of language learning, love, and celebrating so many cultures coming together.

Their ceremony and reception was at a castle in the small town of Piea, about 2 hours outside of Milan. Like a movie, right?! I couldn't believe the view I was seeing from every angle of this place. It was such an honor to photograph friends...one of my favorite things about this job!!

Kelsey + Joel // Sacramento Wildflower Field Wedding

Kelsey and Joel are one of my favorite couples that I have ever photographed! I met them through a friend who went with them to Biola University, where they met. Once I shot their engagement photos last year, I knew that their wedding was going to be incredible. Since Kelsey a wedding photographer herself, she and Joel seriously know how to work the camera! Definitely the most photogenic couple ever. It was a breeze capturing their natural, joyful love.

The field for their ceremony has special significance for them. It's not a venue, but a random farm field in the outskirts of Sacramento, just a few miles from Kelsey's childhood home. Last year, as Joel and Kelsey frolicked through the field,  Joel got down on a knee to propose to her. They decided it would be so special to share their vows there! And trust me, a wildflower field at the foothills of snow-topped mountains was definitely romantic. I couldn't believe the weather we had on that March day. It was 80 degrees out there!

For their reception, we headed down the road to Kelsey's parent's house, who own a barn wedding venue on their property. It's so fun that Kelsey got to really make her wedding unique, it being at her house. There we were met with Kelsey and Joel's favorite meal: breakfast for dinner! Complete with a mimosa bar and donut truck for dessert. Can it get any better?! I was so blown away the whole evening at how much both of their families completely love and support them. It was such an honor to get to capture this wedding. Love you guys!

Emma + Bryant // Home Engagement

Emma's original idea for this session was completely different than how it turned out. Instead of an outdoor, sunset shoot, Bryant ended up having the last-minute idea to do an in-home session. I couldn't be more excited because I've been wanting to do one for so long! Their apartment is probably the cutest, most stylish thing I have ever seen (I'm super jealous!). The moment I walked in, I could tell this would be a fun session. We started out with bowls of Lucky Charms for lunch on the couch and moved about the house capturing their everyday love. It might have been the most relaxed shoot I've ever done and I loved every minute of it.

Emma + Bryant are so naturally loving and capturing this was a breeze. The funniest moment was probably me standing on top of their bed looming over them with a camera as Bryant played the guitar and Emma cuddled up next to him. I'm glad they aren't shy! We ended at a local winery where the weather was warm and perfect. In the back, it was more industrial looking and I loved that set against their rock-n-roll style. Guys, I will gladly photograph you any time!!

Sophia + Nick // Fort Baker Engagement

I'm constantly in awe of the couples that I get to photograph. Each one is surprisingly so amazing and I've never had a client that I didn't love! I met Sophia and Nick originally in their request about photographing their wedding, which I was unavailable for. Nevertheless, we ended up with an engagement session together! Sophia had this idea of shooting at Fort Baker, which I had never been or even heard of before (so insane!). This place was absolutely perfect and the weather couldn't have been better. Although it looks like a sunny summer evening, this was mid-December in the Bay Area and all you locals know that it never looks like this. We totally lucked out!

Sophia and Nick are the sweetest couple with a love that shines through their photos. They were so easy-going and up for strange things like climbing on rocks in wedges or walking a million times for me. I'm so thankful that they trusted me to be so up close with my camera or walk out on the rock ledge to get that shot of the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Enjoy one of my favorite sessions of 2016!

Amber + Sean // Morgan Hill Engagement

It's completely worth waiting for the last 30 minutes of sunlight to capture gorgeous sunset photos. I love the moody light that it always creates with my subjects! Amber and Sean were one of the most fun-loving couples I've had all year. Not to mention they are so sweet! They couldn't stop laughing the whole time and I (and my camera) LOVED it! I am so excited to photograph their wedding coming up in February too. I know it's going to be a crazy fun time!
